DETROIT -- Nissan has announced a recall of 236,000 Sentra vehicles from the 2020 through 2022 model years due to an issue with the tie rods in the front suspension. According to the Associated Press, the tie rods can potentially bend and break which in turn can cause drivers to lose control of steering the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Owners can contact dealers if they feel that the wheel is off center or they feel a vibration in the car. Dealers will inspect and replace any of the tie rods that are bent or broken. After a new design for the tie rods is available, dealers will replace the left and right tie rods at no cost.

Impacted owners will be notified of the recall via letter starting Oct. 5 and another letter will be sent the new parts are available.

Nissan previously recalled many of the same cars in 2021 due to the same issue. Owners who had their vehicle repaired under the previous recall will again have to have the new tie rods installed once they are available.
